Pathophysiology of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Research on IBDs has identified disrupted
immune responses in the gastrointestinal mucosa and putative disruptions in the gut
microbiome as causative agents. This work has led to better therapeutic control of IBDs with
the use of various antiinflammatory agents.
